Spinach and the Con Con

My sweet boy eating a dinner last night. He had:

-Sweet potato with ghee
-Sauteed spinach with coconut oil
-He also had a nitrite free/organic turkey snack (but he ate that all up )
-He also had a large black plum that went fast!

I actually completed yesterday completely Paleo and I feel really good. I noticed a huge increase in energy today despite feeling knotted up about Court/practicum tomorrow.

I started out my morning trying oil pulling with coconut oil. Interesting. I will post more on that soon.

Today I've consumed:

Breakfast: 16 oz unsweetened almond milk, drop of chocolate stevia, and 1 scoop Rocking Wellness on my way to practicum for a few hours (on my day off no less) and a glass of lemon water

Lunch: Leftover broccoli slaw, leftover cuke/tomato salad, romaine lettuce, baked salmon. More lemon water. Glass of unsweetened almond milk with chia seeds

Snack: 8oz unsweetened almond milk with 1.5 scoops Rocking Wellness

Dinner: Half a baked sweet potato with ghee, sauteed spinach in coconut oil, grape tomatoes, 1.5 fried eggs

Snack: Beef jerky and I'm not proud that it was just a regular nasty brand from the corner store.. so yes it had nitrates but I wanted to get the kids out of the house for a walk and it was sooooo tempting to get chips or a candy bar so I settled for this.

Another snack: Big scoop of raw maple almond butter. Seriously lovely delicious stuff.

I completed these work outs today:

And to top of this post: Here is a video of Connor eating that spinach.

Paleo food and going to court...

So I've dabbled in veganism, vegetarianism, raw foodism, lots of isms. Recently I've started to really give Paleo a go and I've enjoyed a number of brilliant blogs but I love reading this one currently: Wellness Mama

I'm actually going to give the 30 Day Challenge a shot. I've added Ghee into my diet lately and eggs and some meat and I really feel REALLY good. I've cut out a lot of fruit except for berries and am aiming for a lower carb intake to help shed the last of the unwanted weight. Seems to be working (of course coupled with regular exercise!).

Here's a snapshot of what I made today:

 The first mixture is:

-Chopped Cucumber
-Chopped Tomato
-Dash of Garlic Exra Virgin Olive Oil
-Dollop of horseradish mustard
-Salt (pink himalayan) and Pepper to taste

2nd concoction:

-Broccoli slaw with purple cabbage and carrots
-Dollop of organic mayo
-Drizzle of garlic extra virgin Olive Oil
-Salt (PH) and pepper to taste

The smoothie in this picture is Connor's:

-Banana
-Frozen Mango
-Almond Milk
-Spinach
-Vanilla Stevia

And well my scale is broken.. due to some rather rambunctious 2 year old.. hmmmmm.. but I'm thinking I've gained a few lbs (all muscle of course) but I'm going to be real about this challenge and need to have a starting picture so here goes:

And lastly,

I'm freaking out about practicum on Thursday. I go in at 9 for an hour of training then have to head over to court to present to the judge on a case. Its not like I haven't spoken in court ( I was a CASA forever ago) but I really REALLY REAAAAAAAAAAAAALLY have a hard time with public speaking. And then back to training for the rest of the day.  Its only Tuesday night and I have butterflies in my belly. Uggh. Belly (and beware if you click that belly link you will see something frightful). That reminds me of a douche whom I ran into at a grocery store who recognized me from my time working at an inpatient psych unit.. After his long winded explanation about the evil-ness of meds (of which I won't disagree) and how he was not and is not crazy, he then proceeded to exuberantly state "CONGRATS, how far along are you?"

It was actually really hard in the pic above not to suck it in.. I'm so used to pulling that damn lower belly in... but with keeping on track with diet and exercise hopefully I won't have to do that anymore!

Weekend update... Pizza, movies, and a bonzai tree

Its Sunday, I started off the day by frantically trying to put together a paper and presentation for tomorrow night's class and then I was informed the paper wasn't due just yet.. PHEWWW. More time to procrastinate. I squeezed a work out in, did laundry, cleaned the kitchen, took Oliver to work, AND went grocery shopping.

This weekend was pretty funtastic, spent most of Saturday with my family. Ollie, Shanelle, Erika, and I went to see RIPD.. we really wanted to see Wolverine but it was sold out. RIPD was ok, I enjoyed it but it wasn't great.

My mom then took us out to Farrelli's. It was our first time. OH SO FREAKING GOOD.

Now weekend update in pics:

AND FINALLY.. my super awesome sweet rad fantastic wonderful uber terrific present from my love..

BONZAI!!!!!!
And I just realized that collage has the same pic twice.. but its a great one of my mom, Jacob and his cousin Cody so I'm going to leave it.. Not that I'm lazy or anything...

Tattoo tattoo tattoo

As you can see from the title... I got  me a tattoo. That would make #3 for me.. but it has been about 8-9 years since the last one. It hurt.. but it was worth it. I love it, the artist was really awesome.

Let's see what else is going on??
- Just doing mom stuff with all the kiddos and trudging along through my practicum and school

Oliver, the kiddos, and I recently made a late night trek to see Pacific Rim 3D. I highly recommend it, such a fun movie, no one was disappointed.. and thankfully Connor slept the whole movie since it was so late.. sweeeeet.

Thats it for now. Short, simple, and sweet.

Weekend update.. (in mostly pics)

This weekend has been jam-packed with fun. It started with taking Hanna to her first scary movie at the theater. It was Maylin, Hanna and I who went to see The Conjuring. Great movie. She smiled the whole time, my kooky girl.

We ate lunch at Barnes and Noble before the movie

Then later that day.....

Then later I picked up my Jakers from his Dad's at 1am. They had just gotten back from Disneyland!!!!! I feel so complete having all my loved ones under my roof now.

Somewhere in there we managed some craft time:

Then on Saturday we went to my friends housewarming bbq party. The kids spent almost the entire time in the pool like fishes. It was really relaxing.

Now school work? Housework? And work out? ...... later.

I split my pants....

Yup. While completing Fitness Blender #27 (kettlebell workout) I totally ripped my shorts.  That was a riot! I've only done that once before, while climbing at Joshua Tree a billion years ago.

I'm pretty worn out and my brain is all fuzzy, spent the day running around with the kiddos. Tonight is my debut attempt at voice acting for this series with Oliver

Check it out!

And finally the offending shorts:

And then some of what's going on:

Ft. Steilacoom Park

I get done with the workout and HE wants his picture taken! Hmmph. :)

Grrrr and sigh...BREATHE!

At first when I sat down to right this I felt a bit overwhelmed and frustrated but then I took a deep breath and remembered the things I am grateful for:

1.) CWTAP program (Child Welfare Training and Advancement Program): While it may wreak havoc on my regular financial aid and cause uncertainty and a possible ulcer... without this program getting my MSW would be out of the question. I am grateful for this opportunity.

2.) My wonderful wonderful family... they may make mess after mess and yes I did the dishes before leaving for practicum (on a not scheduled day) and then did them AGAIN after coming home but I love them dearly. And yes I will have done the dishes at least 3x more

I really wanted to take the kiddos to the park but Connor fell asleep after I dropped Oliver to work and thankfully, blissfully, luckily, awesomely.. he is still asleep an hour later. Those clouds winking at me through the window are not promising me sunshiney things.. I'm pretty sure its going to rain and I took a gamble and hung my laundry out to dry in the back... fingers and toes crossed!

So the plans are to let Connor awake on his own, load up and off to Fred Meyers for food. Then home, unload and feed them. And then I promise myself some work out time. I need to work out. I'm actually pumped to do Fitness Blender.

OH yeah, I should probably do some school work in there somewhere!!

I'd also really like to make this recipe from one of the wonderful blogs I stalk peruse.

Summer Fest 2013

Yesterday, the Conman and I went to Summer Fest 2013 with my good friend Maylin. We. had. a. BLAST! Spent countless hours in the Kid Zone area that consisted bouncy houses and a petting Zoo. We ate.. (not so great).. and enjoyed a 1980's style hair band with lots of good music and laughs. Connor kept running up to the stage and eventually the lead singer jumped down to the ground and Connor ran screaming to hide behind my back. Good times. Luckily before we went I did Fitness Blender workout 24 and am about to complete #25. Chugging along!

Also going to go pick up Hanna and Ollie tonight, YAY! And I spoke to Jake on the phone last night, I miss that brat!

Switching gears and finding my stride..

First off, still LOVING the Rocking Wellness. I went into Practicum today and a 2 scoop/coconut milk kept me fueled for 5 hours. My last practicum was with Child Protective Services, now I'm learning Children & Family Welfare Services. WOW! Talk about paperwork and feeling chained to a cubicle desk. I have a great mentor though who is going to help me be a great social worker.

Now I have to share my new love... Fitness Blender. Its a couple here in Washington who put out free workouts you can find on their site and through YouTube. At first I was just picking and choosing and loving them but then I purchased their 8wk plan (only 7 bucks) and I'm about to do Workout #23. I'm loving my changing body, I feel strong (and smaller).

On the family front, Jake is off to Disneyland with his dad. I'm so happy for him but already missing the heck out of him. Hanna and Ollie are up in Everett with their mom, so for now its just me and the Conman who is really actively potty training. So far ALL day in underwear and no accidents. He even survived a trip to the grocery store, taking his dad to work, and back home without incidence. Life is pretty good.

*I am not being sponsored by either company or receiving any perks, etc. I just REALLY love the shake and workouts.*
